Flush that!

It’s been a while since we have had one of those practically unbelievable stories. Well, get this, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a nationwide recall of a particular toilet-flushing mechanism because it can explode. That’s right, it explodes and can cause injuries.
The flushing mechanism is the Flushmate III Pressure-Assisted Flushing System and has been used by a number of toilet manufacturers, including American Standard, Kohler, Eljer, and Crane. The mechanism was also available at Home Depot and Lowe’s. The mechanism was made from 1997 to 2008 and involves more than 2 million units in the United States alone. That’s a lot of flushing!
The safety commission has received more than 300 faulty product reports, including some that noted injuries, on the Flushmate. In addition to complaints of the Flushmate bursting, there is some indication that the device leaks and just doesn’t work as promoted, or at least that is what one lawsuit filed in Las Vegas contends.
