List of Licensed Hospitals in Oregon

There are 66 different licensed hospitals serving people throughout Oregon.  The Oregon Health Authority Health Facility Licensing & Certification Program (HFLC) is responsible for licensing and regulating hospitals and other non-long-term healthcare facilities.  The requirements are outlined in ORS 441.015 – 441.086; 441.151 – 441.192; 441.196; 441.198.

The HFLC defines and categorizes hospitals in several different groups:

• Acute Care Hospitals treat patients for a brief but severe episode of illness, conditions resulting from disease of trauma, and recovery from surger.
• Critical Access Hospitals are rural hospitals with up to 25 beds located at least 35 miles away from any other hospital.
• Hospital Satellites are facilities owned and operated by a hospital located at a different site.
• Hospital Swing Beds are beds used by hospitals to serve individuals needing the type of care generally provided at a skilled nursing facility when the beds are not required for acute care patients. Pediatric Hospitals offer services exclusively to children and adolescents. Psychiatric Hospitals provide inpatient and outpatient treatment to patients affected with acute or chronic mental illness.

Of course, the Portland area has the most hospitals serving it, with 16.
