However, it is also a parent's responsibility to not only use the product correctly, but to check on a child and make sure it is breathing. I've carried both of my children in slings and even though I feel they are safe in the sling, I am constantly aware of their breathing pattern. I'm truly sorry for the loss of this child. I can't imagine what the parent's must be feeling, but to spend the entire time shopping in Costco without checking on a 6-day-old infant is not the fault of the sling manufacturer.
