Hydroxycut recall
The market is flooded with dietary supplements, but many of these are not particularly good for your health. The latest weight-loss products to come under scrutiny are the Hydroxycut products, which include pills, powders, and drinks and are widely available at such national stores as Vitamin Shoppe and GNC. Reports of such dangerous health issues as heart problems, liver failure, and kidney failure have prompted the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to advise consumers to immediately stop taking the products. One death has been linked to Hydroxycut. Hydroxycut’s manufacturer has voluntarily issued a recall of 14 products in the Hydroxycut line.
Hydroxycut is a successful brand, popular among dieters as well as body builders. The FDA reported that some 9 million units of Hydroxycut were sold in the U.S. in 2008. Symptoms of harmful side effects include weakness, excessive fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.
For more information on the dangers of Hydroxycut, see this article from the New York Times.
